Calcium Formate Formulation

Calcium formate primarily acts as an early strength accelerator in cementitious materials. In real formulations, its functions are more practical:

1. Improved early strength: Calcium formate accelerates cement hydration and improves early strength;

  • Typical dosage: 0.2% – 0.8% (by weight of cement)
  • Lower dosage → mild acceleration
  • Higher dosage → faster early strength, but must balance workability

Calcium formate product is currently one of the widely used quick setting agents in dry-mix mortar. It has a dual function, which not only effectively improves the early strength of mortar, allowing it to harden quickly, but also has an anti freezing effect during winter construction. Therefore, it is widely used in various types of mortar that require early strength or quick hardening characteristics. Calcium formate not only has a good promoting effect on setting, but also has no adverse effect on the later strength of mortar.
