Carboxymethyl Cellulose (CMC) Manufacturer

Carboxymethyl Cellulose (CMC) is a kind of cellulose derivative known for its exceptional water retention, thickening, and adhesive properties, is extensively utilized in the construction industry.

Celopro® CS  CMC polymer is a premium grade CMC, enhances the work-ability and stability of cement-based materials such as mortar and plaster by increasing viscosity and preventing water loss. This contributes to controlled setting times and improved durability and strength of the final structure. Its compatibility with various additives makes Celopro® CS an ideal choice for achieving optimal performance in construction formulations.

Properties of Carboxymethyl Cellulose (CMC)

CMC is a multifunctional hydrocolloid that can impart a variety of important properties to formulations through its mode of action. It can be used as a thickener, water retainer, emulsifier, stabilizer, protective colloid, suspending agent, gelling agent and flow control agent. It can also be used as a film former and adhesive. CMC is widely used in personal care products, industrial coatings, ceramics, oil drilling, building materials, etc.

In mortar applications, CMC acts as a water retention agent, enhancing workability and preventing cracking, especially in hot or dry climates. Its thickening property provides stability, reducing sagging and shrinkage for clean, smooth applications.

In grout, particularly tile grout, CMC promotes even drying and strong adhesion, which minimizes cracks and extends durability. CMC’s cost-effective performance benefits make it ideal for construction applications, helping to deliver high-quality, resilient, and aesthetically superior results.

if you add it in food, it should take the ingestion into for long-term, high consumption (e.g., 15g/day) may cause gut inflammation or affect the gut microbiota. In rare cases, it will bring allergic reactions if contaminated, eye infections.

Sodium Carboxymethyl Cellulose is also named CMC, it is water soluble, as a thickening agent for various uses which is derived from natural cellulose in anionic polymer, Celotech CMC typically used as construction additives to improves concrete or cement texture, viscosity, and water retention.
CMC vs xanthan gum will tell you the difference between them,Only in simple systems. Complex, high-salt, or acidic environments need xanthan.
CMC has many good properties, such as adhesion, water retention, suspension, salt resistance, etc.
