MHEC Advantages

  • Enhanced Workability & Finish: Provides superior thickening and lubricity, ensuring an effortless, smooth application with reduced drag. This is crucial for achieving high-quality finishes in plasters and renders.

  • Reliable Water Retention: Efficiently controls water movement throughout the setting process, preventing premature drying. This guarantees longer open times and effectively minimizes cracking in the cured material.

  • Superior Anti-Sag/Anti-Slip: Optimizes the yield strength of wet mortars, minimizing slump and maximizing anti-slip properties—a critical factor for tile adhesives and thicker skim coats.

  • Consistent Quality Assurance: CELOPRO® MH is designed for reliable batch-to-batch performance, ensuring predictable processing characteristics and a consistently high-quality final product.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • MHEC powders are highly water soluble, and normal mechanical mixing is usually enough to disperse the fibers evenly.

  • Pre-dispersion may help if:

  • The mixing water is very cold
  • The dosage is high or fiber length is long
  • Manual mixing or low-shear mixers are used
  • Typical Process:
Dry mix → add water → mechanical mixing → fibers disperse naturally

Yes. Methyl Hydroxyethyl Cellulose (MHEC) Powder can be combined with other cellulose ethers (like HEC, HPMC) or water-soluble polymers in construction formulations.
The difference between the HPMC and MHEC is reflected in the gel temperature. The gel temperatures of the two are different. The gel temperature is a critical point for the application of cellulose ether. When the ambient temperature exceeds the gel temperature, cellulose ether will separate from water and lose its water retention property. This means that cellulose ether will become invalid and lose its viscosity.
