Celopro® MH – MHEC for Construction & Industrial Applications

Celopro® MH is Celotech’s Methyl Hydroxyethyl Cellulose (MHEC) product line, designed for use in drymix mortars, wall putty, tile adhesives, gypsum-based products, and more. As a non-ionic, water-soluble cellulose ether, it offers excellent water retention, workability, and consistency across a wide range of formulations.

Celopro® MH is widely used in building materials to improve open time, sag resistance, and application performance. It also functions as a rheology modifier in paints & coatings and serves as a thickener and stabilizer in liquid detergent and cleaners.

Available in various viscosity grades, Celopro® MH delivers reliable performance, easy dispersion, and high compatibility with cement, gypsum, and surfactant systems.

What are the applications of MHEC?

MHEC is widely used in the field of construction, mainly in dry-mix mortar, tile adhesive, waterproof coating,building materials,etc. It can increase the adhesion of mortar, making it denser and improving its crack resistance and impermeability. For paint & coating, MHEC can significantly improve the adhesion, stability , water resistance and durability of coatings.

What is the difference between HPMC and MHEC?

The difference between the HPMC and MHEC is reflected in the gel temperature.The gel temperatures of the two are different. The gel temperature is a critical point for the application of cellulose ether. When the ambient temperature exceeds the gel temperature, cellulose ether will separate from water and lose its water retention property.This means that cellulose ether will become invalid and lose its viscosity.

What are the applicable ranges of different grades of tile adhesive？

C 1:
Suitable for ceramic tiles and vitrified tiles with low water absorption rate andLaying natural stone materials such as ceramic tiles, glazed tiles, marble, etc.
C 1 T:
Suitable for ordinary ceramic tiles and ceramic mosaics with a water absorption rate greater than 6%; Decorative ceramic tiles with a water absorption rate of ≥ 0.2% and a size of ≤ 400 × 800mm.
C 2 T:
Suitable for decorative tiles with a water absorption rate of 0.5% ＜ E ＜ 3%, or 0.2% ＜ E ＜ 0.5%, and a size ≤ 600 × 1200mm.
C 2 E S 1:
Suitable for ceramic slabs, rock slabs, etc. with a size not exceeding 2.4m * 1.2m for indoor wall pasting.
C 2 T S 1:
Suitable for pasting ceramic slabs, rock slabs, etc. with a size not exceeding 2.4m * 1.2m on indoor walls.
